- I have been thinking. It was said that the 'developer' version of the
- Phase 5 PPC Accelerators would have an 030 onboard to help with emulation
- of the partially-converted OS.
-
- I was thinking that it would be a great feature if they could sell the
- PPC board seperately (public version), but with the ability to add on
- an 030/040/060 CPU daughter board. This would permit full software
- compatibility as far as CPU is concerned at likely better speeds than
- could be emulated through PPC emulation software.
-
- I had heard rumor that an 030/040 might be included on the board as a
- standard and that all 680x0 code would be piped to that CPU by the PPC
- for true handling. This is a great idea as well, but it would be great
- if the end-user could select which CPU they wanted (030/040/060) and
- at what speeds, unless this would cause problems with the basic PPC
- Accelerator.
-
- In the end, both of these ideas I hope are being looked into by Phase 5.
- a) Daughter board card for 680x0 (030/040/060) CPU at variable speeds.
- b) Ability for the PPC CPU to pass-through 680x0 code to the 680x0 CPU
- on the (daughter) board for faster execution.
